4:00 pm CRIMINAL
(Dir. Elliot Dawson-Clark) WORLD PREMIERE
In this tightly constructed crime thriller, Innis's (Ian Dyck) wife (Alicia Kenworthy) is being stalked by a local neighbour that is obsessed with her. Despite pleas to the police, his wife is then raped and murdered in a home invasion. Frustrated by the lack of action by the police, Innis decides to take the law into his own hands and goes on a revenge spree. On the surface the film reads very much like a DEATH WISH but this crime-revenge tale is brimming with its own unique atmosphere and mood. Fans of Nicolas Refn and Michael Mann will especially love this slow burning revenge tale. Elliot Dawson-Clark and his small team have put this this stylish thriller together with next to no budget and it is one of the "hidden gems" of Blood in the Snow 2013.

7:00 pm DISCOPATH
(Dir. Renaud Gauthier) TORONTO PREMIERE
Imagine if you will a serial killer that is driven by a surging desire to kill whenever he hears Disco music. Now place the film in 1970's Montreal! Duane is a disturbed young man who is haunted by a tragic past. He discovers one night in a New York disco that he must act on his buried homicidal tendencies whenever the pulsating sounds of Disco surround him. Years later, after fleeing to Montreal, Duane is caught up yet again in the disco beat. DISCOPATH is a deranged, demented and brilliant homage to the slasher and grindhouse pics of the late 70's early 80's and uses a style of shooting similar to the Rodriguez/Tarantino throwback film GRINDHOUSE. The film wears it influences front and center as it carries shades of the original Willam Lustig directed MANIAC and overtones of the soon to be re-issued in theaters 1984 classic SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT. Add in the excellent gore effects from renowned Montreal based FX man Remy Couture and a killer soundtrack, Discopath is an amazingly disturbing film your likely not to forget for a very long time.
